Conference Opening - Sunday 5 September 2010
The conference opening function will be a trip to Zealandia and the Carter Observatory. The coaches will depart the hotel at 4.30pm. You will spend 2 hours at Zealandia where food will be served and you will be able to experience the dusk bird call. Following this you will then travel to the Carter Observatory where the official welcome from the Mayor will take place. You are then free to spend 2 hours exploring the planetarium, telescope and the exhibition area. Canapés and desert will be provided.

Carter Observatory is New Zealand's longest-serving national observatory. At the Carter Observatory you will be able to take a virtual journey through space in Carter's new planetarium - a state-of-the-art full-dome digital theatre, and then take your own steps through space as you walk through the world-class interactive multimedia space experience. Discover our Universe, along with some of New Zealand's most prestigious telescopes and astronomical artefacts.

An evening at the Winter Palace
Find those furs and dress for an evening of elegance and grandeur for another special evening. Transport will collect you from the 3 official hotels at 7:00pm and take you to the Wellington Town Hall.
The Wellington Town Hall is a majestic building and will be the venue for the conference dinner. Join delegates to celebrate, network, be entertained and to hear the announcement of the winner/s of the Trafinz Achievement Awards and the TRAFINZ and HMI School Safety Zone Competition.
